About

I am a Dutch-Ethiopian visual anthropologist.
My work explores Identity politics, tradition, religious and cultural heritage.
In my work I try to shine a light on under-exposed stories,
communities and focus on the longing to belong.
I use documentary film making and analog photography to create connections,
cross physical and mental borders. Holistic, enduring and tangible.

In my live analog glitch installations I try to push back against the over subjectification
and commodification of the visual arts. I want to reframe, reevaluate and reshape what it is to be perfect,
captured, and digital. I try to expose the self-indulgences of the visual through social media.
Creating a lived glitched experience, distorting both the physical world as well as
giving an artistic form to the dimension of the machine capturing us.
